Dr. Devajit Bandyopadhyay is an acclaimed musician, performer, theatre and film activist. Awarded Ph.D. from Jadavpur University, Kolkata in Music in Theatre.
He was awarded Munier Chowdhury Samman from Bangladesh in 2018. Researches, directs as well as performs (vocal) in the concert of the Mancho-Gaan (theatre-song), a different term of Natya Sangeet, in India and abroad.
Apart from making tele-films he has also authored and compiled several articles and titles on music, theatre, film as well as jatra for the publications of Sahitya Akademi, Oxford University Press, Ananda Publishers and many others of the same repute. Awarded Junior Fellowship (1992-1994), Senior Fellowship (1996-1998) and Tagore National Researcher Fellowship (2011-2012) by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Devajit has performed at numerous National and International level forums which include National School of Drama, International Theatre Festival, New Delhi; 7th NABC 1987, California; 37th NABC 2017, Santa Clara, California; Nazrul Convention 2018, Washington DC; London Sharad Utsav (ABP Ananda); 18th International Amateur Theatre Festival, Utrecht, The Netherlands; International Bengali Drama Festival, Toronto; Bengali Theatre Songs on Radio, BBC, London; International Theare Festival, Dhaka; Theatre Utsav, Dhaka; National Theatre Festival, Kasargode, Kerala.
He trained under the tutelage of Ustad Sagiruddin Khan, Sri Subinoy Roy, Sri Ashoktaru Bandyopadhyay, Sri Dhiren Bose and many others.
